LIVING SALADS
In partnership with Helen's Acres, the Central Okanagan Food Bank, and School District 23, Hands in Service assembles and delivers up to 450 Living Salads planters annually. Each planter contains everything needed to grow a seasonal salad that replenishes throughout the season. The Living Salad project supports independent food sustainability. Planters are gifted to Mamas for Mamas, Senior's Outreach, KCR, and others.

Food insecurity is a real challenge for some in our community. Twelve years ago, we launched our Living Salads program to support individuals, meet needs, and build relationships—values we still hold today.
We're grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and community for helping with this project.

When mobility or health challenges prevent clients from accessing community gardens and they lack space to grow their own vegetables, Hands in Service brings a salad planter directly to them.
Next availability for a Living Salad: May 2025
