Video2Washing dishes, sweeping the floor, doing the laundry, or accessing food; these are all basic activities that most of us are able to do without thinking; without even batting an eye. Yet these same activities are the source of stress, anxiety, physical pain and even debilitation for many others who are unable to perform them; who have no one to help.

These are our clients.

Hands In Service provides basic house cleaning, laundry and simple food preparation for those in our community under the age of 65 who have health concerns or disabilities that limit these very basic activities in daily life. We also partner with local food banks to deliver regular food hampers (no age restriction) to those with limited access to the food bank due to health issues or financial constraints. We also distribute fresh produce ( no age restriction) weekly from June to September. Each week participants receive a bag of local grown vegetables and fruit. All of our programs are at no cost to our clients.

With our expanding relationships to other helping agencies in the community, we offer referrals to all clients whose needs are outside our mandate. It is our desire never to turn a client away without connection to resources.

In-Home Cleaning & Food Security Programs

Energetic Hands

Energetic Hands is a basic cleaning support program for Hands in Service clients who are unable to perform basic household tasks for themselves. Clients in this program are aged 19-65 and have health or mobility challenges, are low income and have minimal community support. Volunteers clean for clients on an ongoing basis, providing practical and relational support for a maximum of twice a month. If you are interested in this program, please complete a client application.  Once received a Field coordinator will contact you to arrange a home assessment.
