Depending on the type of lettuce and your preference, many different salads could be made and savoured. You may favour a certain style salad and make your own dressing or use one from a purchased bottle. If you have never tried to make your own salad dressing you may be surprised at how easy it can be. Keep in mind that the type of oil and vinegar will lay the foundation for the flavour of your dressing, keep trying different options until you find your favourite!

Here is an easy flexible recipe for salad dressing that would make any green salad tasty and delicious:

Easy Salad Dressing:

  • 1/4 cup oil (could be olive, canola, avocado or whatever you have in your kitchen)
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar (like red or white wine vinegar, balsamic or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 Teaspoon minced fresh herbs or 1/2 teaspoon crumbled dried herbs (parsley, chives, thyme, basil, cilantro)
  • ¬†Salt and pepper to taste¬†

Mix all together and pour over your washed salad greens.

This amount will make enough for two-three people to have generous side salads. You may have leftover dressing and it will keep in a jar in the fridge for a few weeks.
